The Royal House has just announced that His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Frederik will be racing at the inaugural KMD IRONMAN Copenhagen on Sunday, 18th August.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Frederik is also IOC member. The 45-year-old is husband to Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess Mary Elizabeth is a father to four children.
The Crown Prince Couple resides at Amalienborg castle which can be seen from the run course of the 2013 KMD IRONMAN Copenhagen. Below please find the official statement from the Royal House:
The Crown Prince participates in the 2013 KMD IRONMAN Copenhagen on August 18th which involves the three classic triathlon disciplines: swimming, cycling and running. The first discipline is swimming which takes place at the laguna at Amager Strandpark where competitors have to swim 3,8 km. Next is the 180,2 km bike ride in northern Zealand with the last discipline being a 42.2 km marathon run along the harbor front in Copenhagen.
“It is commendable that Copenhagen, as the only capital city in the world, hosts an IRONMAN event and I look forward to a big and festive sports event on Sunday. Personally I look forward to competing with the 2600 other athletes – it will be a very special race and experience”, says His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Frederik. At KMD IRONMAN Copenhagen 2013 participants from over 40 different countries including 800 international participants will be at the starting line and it is the only race of its kind held in a capital city.
