The Danish Cycling Federation claims the event was a great success, but they also focus on the areas where adjustment should be made for next year’s event.
“We have had amazing days with brilliant weather. Considering the fact that we only had three weeks to alter the course we are very satisfied with the result. But there are definitely things that can be adjusted for next year. We managed to organise two good bike races with safety top notch, and we have not had the number of crashes that happened in Copenhagen Gran Fondo last year,” says the Race Director Jens Kasler who also stresses that it pleased him that the federation managed to combine the Cycling for all event Copenhagen Gran Fondo with an elite race – the Danish U23 Championship.
“It was some very competitive days and I really think Elsinore and Gran Fondo are a perfect match. It makes sense with an event of this size in the city. Both Friday with the Time Trial and the finish of the road race on Sunday created a festive celebration of cycling in the city center. Thank you Danish Cycling Federation and all the other partners for the good cooperation. Cycling is just great,” says Mayor of Elsinore Benedikte Kiaer.
