PWA Slalom Windsurf World Cup during WATERZ 2016

The world elite will be gathered in Hvide Sande for amazing setup of the PWA slalom windsurf World Cup in September.

That WATERZ are able to host a PWA World Cup is the result of strong collaboration between Sport Event Denmark, Ringkø-bing-Skjern Kommune and Holmsland Klit Tourist Association. Ringkøbing-Skjern Kommune has agreed on full cooperation for the following 3 years which will allow the time and dedication for development of the event.

Katrine K. Frandsen the project leader of WATERZ has said: “It’s a huge boost for WATERZ that we are able to host a PWA World Cup. We are benefitting greatly from cooperation with Sport Event Denmark, which has an intense knowledge about development of events and the effects of these. There is no doubt that cooperation with Sport Event Denmark has been a decisive factor in taking this step further of developing WATERZ.”

WATERZ will be running from the 1st till the 9th of September 2016 and the PWA World Cup will be held from the 4th till the 9th of September 2016. In the days leading up to the World Cup WATERZ will entertain Hvide Sande with a wide range of water sports activities and competitions. The town will be full of life, parties and large range of water sports. There will be everything from windsurfing and kitesurfing competitions across the fjord with up to 400 participants, to the possibility of joining the fun on the water and try the water sport you have always dreamed of.

PWA Windsurf Slalom World Cup will be located in the North Sea in Hvide Sande. The organizers are expecting 80-100 partici-pants from around the world, which will compete to win a technically challenging round of the World Cup.

“We are very proud to present our new cooperation with PWA. We are looking forward to working together to develop the WATERZ and PWA event in Hvide Sande in hopefully many coming years and together host the absolute world elite in wind-surfing. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone in September and give them an experience they will never forget!”, says Katrine K. Frandsen.

PWA Tour Manager Richard Page says about the cooperation: “The PWA is very happy to be joining forces with WATERZ in bringing this great new event to the World Championship Tour. Hvide Sande promises to bring a comprehensive and diverse range of conditions and facilities that will lend themselves perfect-ly to hosting a PWA World Cup, and having a Slalom event in Denmark will complement the already successful wave event at Klitmoller perfectly. We are looking forward to a long partnership that allows us to build on the established concepts of WATERZ, consolidating and ratifying the world class potential of Denmark as a windsurfing destination.”

WATERZ is run by the independent Institution WATERZ in cooperation with Holmsland Klit Tourist Association, Sport Event Denmark and Ringkøbing-Skjern Kommune.
